Porterhouse –

Coach Marty Schottenheimer expects LaDainian Tomlinson (ribs) to practice this week.
Tomlinson said he expected steady progress from his sore ribs this week, but his inability to finish the game in Indy is a concern

Travis Henry (ankle) will be very limited at practice this week and is questionable for week 16.
If Henry cannot go again, Jarrett Payton will back up Chris Brown again.

Coach Jack Del Rio said Greg Jones (neck) will likely play in Houston this Saturday.
Jones sustained a neck burner and had to leave Sunday's game in the second half. He'll likely be healthy enough to suit up and share backfield duties with Fred Taylor again.

Coach Dom Capers said that Domanick Davis (knee) will be held out of practice early in the week.
The team will rest their featured back for a couple more days to help rest his ailing knee. Jonathan Wells did a great job filling in with 87 yards and two touchdowns. He's a strong option against Jacksonville if Davis is unable to go

After injuring his foot, T.J. Houshmandzadeh left Ford Field on crutches yesterday.
Housh vowed to play next Saturday against Buffalo, but that remains to be seen. He has scored a touchdown in the past four games for Cincy. We'll update him throughout the week.
Warrick Dunn felt some tightness in his hamstring Sunday night against the Bears, but it isn't considered serious.
Coach Jim Mora said he thought the back suffered from cramps more than anything. Although it will be in much warmer conditions, Dunn has another tough matchup in week 16 against the Bucs.
Frank Gore (shoulder) is listed as questionable for next week against the Rams.
Gore racked up 136 total yards in his first start of the season. Depending on the health of Kevan Barlow, Gore should be in store for a lot of touches next game as well.

Joe Horn aggravated a hamstring injury in Sunday's game against Carolina, but coach Jim Haslett said, "He should be OK."
Horn was held to one catch for six yards in the contest - It's been a lost-year for the All-Pro receiver. He'll get a chance with Todd Bouman at quarterback the final couple games.

Eddie Kennison injured a knee late in the game Saturday against the Giants and had to leave the stadium on crutches.
The team is initially calling the injury a a sprained left knee. We'll update his status throughout the week.
Chris Simms suffered a sprained left thumb during Saturday's game against the Patriots.
"I think he's okay," coach Jon Gruden said. "He was able to throw the ball. I'm sure he's a bit sore. He took a lot of hits (Saturday). We think he'll be ready to go for this game." Luke McCown is the backup if Simms cannot suit up.

Kurt Warner is expected to miss the rest of the season with a sprained MCL.
We hate to say it, but perhaps this injury will do the Cardinals a favor this off-season. Warner was effective late in the season, but he's fragile and probably not a guy you want to sign long-term as a free agent. Warner's fantasy owners obviously can't feel so positive. John Navarre played decently when called upon Sunday and could start next week

Coach Lovie Smith announced that Rex Grossman will be the starting quarterback in week 16 against Green Bay.
Grossman went 9-for-16 yards for 93 yards and an interception in the second half. He hooked up with Muhsin Muhammad on the first play for a 22-yard strike and definitely boosts Moose's value. Kyle Orton did a strong job managing the games, but this is a no-brainer of a decision to jumpstart the Bears offense.
There's a chance that Sage Rosenfels will start in week 16 as Gus Frerotte is "day-to-day" with a finger injury.
Coach Nick Saban said Frerotte will start if he's healthy despite the recent dramatics from Rosenfels.

Although coach Norv Turner has yet to make an official announcement, Kerry Collins is likely to retain his starting job.
"I'm not going to get into that," Turner said, when asked if Collins would start in front of Marques Tuiasosopo. "I imagine that's the way we'll go." The Raiders play the Broncos and Giants in the next couple weeks.

Daunte Culpepper hinted that he might be playing in a different uniform for the 2006 season.
"I want to play where I'm wanted," Culpepper told reporter Andrea Kremer, who relayed the statement during ESPN's "Sunday NFL Countdown." He added that he has lost 25 pounds from his 265-pound frame in order to reduce stress on his right knee.

spot, but at least I'm still playing this week. I've

Chad Johnson is my #1, but I need help regarding my

QB Tom Brady said yesterday that his knee injury is not serious.
"I don’t think it’s anything too major," Brady said. "It’s feeling kind of what I expected this morning. It’s exactly like I got hit on it, a little stiff." As usual the Patriots won't reveal more than they absolutely have to, but expect Brady to play.
Michael Vick left today's game with bruised ribs in the fourth quarter of Monday's game.
Saints MLB Ronald McKinnon went for a late cheap shot after Vick completed a pass. Vick took one more snap and was tackled from behind, then left the game holding his back, not his ribs. Vick threw for 231 yards, one touchdown, one interception, and rushed for 38 yards and two scores before leaving. Vick isn't a great option in Chicago next week no matter how healthy he is
The Titans are likely to be without Erron Kinney again this week.
"I think we might be pushing a little bit this week, but there is a chance," that Kinney could play this week, according to coach Jeff Fishe
Travis Henry's ankle injury could keep him out of this week's game.
It sounds like he'll be a game-time decision. "Travis’s ankle is very sore, but this ankle is not going to keep him from playing the rest of the year. It may keep him out of this week’s game, but I would expect him to come back," coah Jeff Fisher said. Good news for Chris Brown owners.
The Bengals have ruled out Chris Perry (ankle) for week 15 against the Lions.
Coach Marvin Lewis indicated he might use Jeremi Johnson at running back in passing downs in Perry's place. Nick Luchey could also be activated for the contest. No word on Perry's return yet, but he might be done for the season.
Kevin Jones (elbow) is not expected to play in week 15 against the Bengals.
Jones hyperextended his elbow against the Packers in Sunday night's contest. "Kevin (Jones) and Earl (Holmes) were really our only two significant injuries," coach Dick Jarron said. "We’ll have to wait and see on both of them because I haven’t been updated, but I know that they could be lost for some time." Artose Pinner was the primary back after Jones departed and will likely get the start. Shawn Bryson could get some touches as well.
Coach Herman Edwards said Curtis Martin (knee) will undergo season-ending surgery on Wednesday.
Cedrick Houston will likely remain the team's starting tailback for the remainder of the season. Martin has vowed to return in 2006, but he'll probably have to accept a lesser salary and role
Brian Westbrook (foot) was placed on injured reserve today, officially ending his season.
"This should heal up," coach Andy Reid said. "It may take six to nine weeks to get right." There was no need to rush back Westbrook and risk further injury with the Eagles out of contention. Ryan Moats will likely be the primary back for the Eagles in the final few weeks, with Reno Mahe and Lamar Gordon seeing some touches as well.
The Giants lost both their starting tackles in yesterday's win against Philadelphia.
Luke Petitgout (back spasms) hopes to return, but Kareem McKenzie (hamstring) could miss some time. Manning has to be praying Petitgout returns next week, as Bob Whitfield replaced him and was called for six penalties and didn't seem to concerned about it either. "I just do what they ask me to do," Whitfield said. "I'm underpaid, under-appreciated, got a locker next to the garbage can, nobody expects you to do a whole lot and you go out and whip somebody's [butt]."
DeShaun Foster missed part of Sunday's second half against Tampa Bay with a bruised shoulder.
Foster suffered a shoulder stinger from a hit by Jermaine Phillips and was forced to temporarily leave the game for a few series. He attempted to come back, but re-injured the shoulder and was taken back to the locker room and did not return to the game. Foster said he could have returned but the coaching staff decided to keep him out. The back announced he'll be ready for next week's game against the Saints.

News from around the NFL

Despite five interceptions Sunday, QB Ryan Fitzpatrick will start again this week.
Interim coach Joe Vitt said yesterday that Fitzpatrick will be the starter until QB Marc Bulger (shoulder) returns, which could be next season. Needless to say Fitzpatrick is not a good fantasy play against the Eagles this week.
Coach Mike Tice confirmed the obvious yesterday, saying that RB Mewelde Moore is no longer the Vikings' starter.
RB Michael Bennett took the bulk of the snaps Sunday, with RB Ciatrick Fason getting work in short-yardage spots. Don't expect Moore to get out of the doghouse anytime soon
RB Fred Taylor will start Sunday, but coach Jack Del Rio said RB Greg Jones will continue to get plenty of work.
"I see us utilizing both players,'' Del Rio said. "Greg has proven that he can play both fullback and halfback for us, and we can be productive using him.'' Jones rushed seven times for 43 yards in Week 14 despite the Jaguars falling behind early.
Add WR Derrick Mason to the list of Ravens not happy with QB Kyle Boller's performance.
Mason's production has dropped off significantly with Boller starting. "For the last five games, I've been a glorified running back," Mason said. "Basically, I catch 5- and 6-yard routes. And that's not me. There has to be a point where you've got to allow someone to go out there and use his abilities to make plays. That's what you brought me in for. You allowed me to do some things in the first half of the season, but now it seems like I'm the third option everywhere we go."
Joe Jurevicius will be Seattle's third receiver this weekend.
The team will go three wide very often, so it doesn't elminate his fantasy value. But Jurevicius is still a lesser play moving forward.
The Texans hired former NFL player and head coach Dan Reeves as a special consultant to the owner Monday.
"I’ve known Dan for a very long time, said Texans owner Bob McNair. "We would like to have him evaluate our team and give us his opinion as to how close we are to being a winning team."
John Kasay has now missed 7 of his last 9 field goals from beyond 40.
Kasay used to be one of the most reliable kickers in the game, but has been somewhat unreliable recently. He did connect for a 39-yard yesterday.

Coach Mike Sherman is reportedly not optimistic about TE Bubba Franks' (back) chances of playing this week.
"His availability is very suspect at this present time." Sherman said. Sherman is taking a lot of heat for playing Franks so soon after his concussion, but the Packers' medical staff cleared him to play

According to the Arizona Republic, K Neil Rackers (calf) may be able to kick mid-range field goals this week.
That would be quite the recovery from what was initially expected to keep him out for nearly a month. Whatever happens with Rackers, the Cardinals will keep K Nick Novak on the roster for the stretch run.

Brian Westbrook left today's game with a foot sprain at halftime.
Westbrook suffered the injury early in the contest, stayed in the game, but it tightened up at halftime. He will undergo an MRI Tuesday. Westbrook rushed nine times for 17 yards and caught five passes for 38 yards before leaving the game.

Titans TE Erron Kinney is likely to miss this week's game with a knee injury.
Kinney's career year has hit a snag. Kinney is undergoing tests to determine the extent of the injury. Ben Troupe will step up as a starter.

Courtney Roby could start at wide receiver following Roydell Williams' season-ending injury.
Both Roby and Tyrone Calico will pick up snaps. Roby isn't a terrible pickup in deep leagues, if only because Tennesee's schedule looks great.

Jay Fiedler (shoulder) is out for week 14 and may not make it back this season.
Coach Herm Edwards doesn't sound optimistic about Fiedler's chances. "We'll probably know this week more, where he's really at," Edwards said. "If he's not getting well, something has to happen." Fiedler may have to undergo surgery in the off-season.

Braylon Edwards will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL.
The Browns franchise has some seriously terrible luck. Since the injury comes so late in the season, this will obviously affect Edwards' off-season training. It often takes 9-12 months to fully recover, so Edwards may not be all the way back for the start of next season. Dennis Northcutt will take over the starting job the rest of the year.

RB Kevin Jones sat out Sunday's game with a quadriceps injury.
Jones was scratched after struggling during warmups, and the Lions are hoping to get him back next week. "We didn't work him out hard today," coach Dick Jauron said. "Hopefully that'll pay dividends for us."

Coach Tony Dungy reversed field a bit, saying he is unsure how he'll handle playing time once the Colts clinch homefield advantage.
The e-mails and phone calls from Peyton Manning owners must have had an impact, because Dungy is now turning to a higher power for advice on the issue. "I'll pray about it, try to get some wisdom from the Lord as to what to do," Dungy said. "If we decide to play our guys, which I'm sure they'll all want to play, I'll pray that they don't get hurt and we can go out and keep winning.''

RB Kevan Barlow (knee) is reportedly likely to return this week.
Barlow was apparently able to play Sunday, but coach Mike Nolan benched him in favor of guys who could help on special teams.

Coach Jack Del Rio gave no indication yesterday about RB Fred Taylor's (ankle) status for this week.
It sounds like RB Greg Jones will get plenty of carries regardless of Taylor's health.

It doesn't sound like WR Charles Rogers is in the Lions' plans for the remainder of the season.
"He has to fight his way back," coach Dick Jauron said. "I wouldn't necessarily stand here and tell you he is doing anything wrong, but we only have four spots." Interesting that he would describe it as "only four spots" when everyone has basically agreed about how horribly the Lions' wide outs have played. Dec. 6 - 9:50 am et

QB Jeff Garcia blamed his injury, underachieving wide receivers, and the Lions' unwillingness to throw downfield as the causes of his struggles.
Garcia's girlfriend, former Playmate Carmella DeCesare, called in to a local radio show to defend her man Monday. Steve Mariucci is probably thinking he got out of there just in time

Koy Detmer completed 13-of-29 passes for 84 yards and two interceptions in week 13.
He will probably be Philadelphia's starter next week, although he didn't play any better than Mike McMahon. Stay away from the Philly offense.

Marques Tuiasosopo is expected to start for the Raiders in week 14.
Oakland heads to New York this week to face the Jets. The Raiders then face the Browns and Broncos, which is a fine schedule for a QB. Tuiasosopo is worth grabbing as a QB2 in fantasy leagues if you need help. He's athletic, but is really an unknown in his fourth season. He becomes a free agent after the season if he doesn't take 30% of Oakland's snaps, which is unlikely with only four games left.

Gus Frerotte will return to Dolphins practice this week and will remain Miami's starting quarterback.
It's a somewhat surprising move, considering how well Sage Rosenfels played in Miami's win. "This should not be an issue. We don't want it to be an issue. I know y'all are going to try to make it an issue," coach Nick Saban said. Chris Chambers owners would probably like to keep Rosenfels.

NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue said it is "likely" that the Saints will play games in San Antonio and Baton Rouge in 2006.
The league also hopes to play some games in the SuperDome. According to Tagliabue, splitting the Saints "home" games between San Antonio, Baton Rouge, and New Orleans not only possible, but a goal. It's unclear where Saints headquarters would be located, but playing another season like this one is a competitive disadvantage at the very least.
