Daunte Culpepper will miss the 2005 season with damage to his ACL, MCL and PCL.
FoxSports.com reports that severe swelling in each area made it impossible to initially determine the extent of the injuries. But Mike Tice said Monday Culpepper will undergo season-ending surgery soon. Culpepper may not return with as much mobility next season and is likely to have a new coach and system to learn. That's assuming he returns in time for week one. Culpepper could prove undervalued next fantasy season following this year's disaster.

QB Alex Smith (knee) is still likely a week away from playing, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
"It's a rare injury," he said. "We're just trying to let it heal." Tim Rattay never looked so good.
QB Ken Dorsey's ankle injury isn't as severe as initially feared.
An MRI revealed no major damage. "We are going to do a lot of rehab in the next few days and see where it is," Dorsey said. "I will do anything it takes to get back on the field." At this point it looks like Cody Pickett at QB Sunday. Bad times.
QB Vinny Testaverde (calf) reportedly took 70 percent of the snaps with the first-team offense during practice yesterday.
Coach Herm Edwards confirmed that Testaverde will start Sunday against San Diego. Play at your own risk.

Chris Cooley underwent an MRI on his injured knee yesterday.
The Redskins should have more on Cooley's injury today

Coach Jeff Fisher said TE Ben Troupe's ankle was "very sore" yesterday.
Troupe left Sunday's game in the second quarter and did not return. The Titans are running out of people to catch the ball.

Coach Mike Holmgren said yesterday that WR Darrell Jackson (knee) is feeling better.
Jackson had knee surgery nearly a month ago and Holmgren said the team is closer to setting a timetable for his return.

WR Bobby Engram (ribs) did not practice yesterday, but may play Sunday.
"I'll play," Engram said. Engram has missed three straight games after cracking his ribs October 2.
WR Az-Zahir Hakim is day-to-day after aggravating a rib injury by sneezing Sunday.
Seriously. Hakim was inactive for Sunday's game
According to the Houston Chronicle, WR Andre Johnson (calf) will not practice Wednesday.
It doesn't sound like the Texans are expecting him back for this week, but keep an eye out for updates.
QB Jeff Garcia may be unable to practice this week and suggested that QB Joey Harrington should start if he can't.
"I feel I need to be out there by Thursday," Garcia said. "I feel like getting two good solid days of practice in is important for me to feel comfortable with what I need to do. If I can't be out there on Thursday, taking part in practice, then I think it's best for the guy who's taking the reps to be the guy in there on Sunday."

WR Randy Moss struggled to play through a hamstring injury Sunday and eventually took himself out of the game in the third quarter.
"Randy's struggling with some things,'' coach Norv Turner said. "He got hit in the head pretty good. He's got some soreness. I'm pleased that we're getting as much out of him as we are." He's looking like a very iffy play this week.

Coach Lovie Smith said yesterday that RB Thomas' Jones rib injury is not serious.
Jones was knocked out of Sunday's game in the fourth quarter, but is a good bet to play this week.
WR Michael Jenkins (ankle) did not practice yesterday.
He reportedly played some catch, but did not run. "I may try [today] and see how it goes," Jenkins said.
RB T.J. Duckett (ankle) did not practice yesterday, but coach Jim Mora said he may be healthy enough to play Sunday.
Duckett was inactive for Atlanta's October 24 game against the Jets, but had extra time to heal up during the bye week.
Bears WR Mark Bradley will miss the rest of the 2005 season with a torn ACL.
The rookie second-rounder was making surprisingly impressive strides as a starter. Considered raw coming out of Oklahoma, Bradley looked like a future complement to Muhsin Muhammad.
According to the Arizona Republic, WR Anquan Boldin (knee) will play this week if doctors clear him to do so.
An MRI on Boldin's injured knee showed a bone bruise. "I don't want to do anything stupid," Boldin said. "If it is just a bruise or a sprain, I don't want to do anything to hurt it worse than what it was." If Boldin is out, coach Dennis Green said WR Bryant Johnson will start in his place

Coach Dennis Green confirmed that Bryant Johnson will start as long as Anquan Boldin is out.
The Cardinals still have three division games left where Johnson could be a decent option. He's at least worth grabbing in deep leagues.

Coach Jack Del Rio said yesterday that WR Ernest Wilford will get an expanded role in the offense after catching six passes for 145 yards Sunday.
Wilford may start against the Texans in place of WR Reggie Williams. "You know Yankee baseball lore. Wally Pipp? You don't know how it's going to happen," Del Rio said. "Ultimately, you have to take advantage of your opportunity. I think [Wilford] stepped forward and said very clearly, "I want more playing time, coach. Throw the ball to me.'"
According to the Detroit News, there is "no doubt" that WR Charles Rogers will play Sunday.
Coach Steve Mariucci made it clear yesterday that Rogers will have to compete for playing time going forward, but the Lions are so thin at receiver that they need the extra body.
Coach Bill Parcells downplayed RB Marion Barber's outstanding game Sunday.
"We have a tendency in Dallas to anoint," Parcells said. "I think the anointing oils are a little more prevalent here than some other parts of the country. I think I just want to keep him as a promising rookie right now."

WR Braylon Edwards endorsed a quarterback change in Cleveland, saying that rookie Charlie Frye would "bring a little more life, because he's younger" than Trent Dilfer.
Edwards apparently didn't think about the fact that Dilfer is still the team's QB, and thus in charge of getting him the football. Asked about a potential change, coach Romeo Crennel said, "I'm not divulging which way I'm leaning."
Brad Johnson will be Minnesota's starting quarterback for the rest of the season.
Minnesota's schedule doesn't look imposing the next month: vs. Lions, @ Giants, @ Packers, and vs. Browns. It gets much tougher down the stretch, but Johnson could put up workmanlike numbers in the meantime.

Comments

OK. You guys sounded like silk this week. I like the banter and the use of quotes from the best movies of all time. I have to plead innocence as to "my" comments on the hearing your pod issue.

It seems that my first generation iPod wasn't 'casting properly in my car and that caused the drop outs and poor sound quality.

I still blame portly Darren for my loss last week. If you guys would do a Jeffcast on Monday AM, I would have known to start Ward instead of Randle El on Monday night.

I lost by two points.

Keep up the good work.
