hey im a bit confuzzled about the situations concerning marc bulger and byron leftwich. is bulger officially done for the season? and if leftwhich is out for 4-6 weeks, wouldnt that make him done for the rest of the regular season and therefore been done for all fantasy players?
or maybe im doing my math wrong.
which is entirely possible
anyway, if you could give any deffinate answers that would be greately appriciated.

oh and do you think garrard/fitzpatrick are worth picking up if you have brady/big ben? prolly only match-up wise right? im thinking of possibly picking up warner or losman or garrard or fitzpatrick, but only on a match up basis. you know what i mean?

thanks for all your help
peace
matt

Time to take a look at the Injury report thanks to Rotoworld.com…

According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, WR Troy Williamson (shoulder) is expected to be inactive again this week.
A tough break for Williamson, who was starting to find a significant role in the offense before the injury. Coach Mike Tice is upset because Williamson asked out of practice.

RB Tatum Bell (chest) is expected to return this week after sitting out Thursday's game.
"I'll definitely be back this week," Bell said. It's back to the bench for RB Ron Dayne.

X-rays on RB Chester Taylor's injured foot did not reveal any breaks.
However, the Washington Post reports that Taylor may not be ready to play this week. If that's the case, RB Jamal Lewis should be upgraded and will once again get a full workload.

ProFootballtalk.com reports that Byron Leftwich "most likely" will not return to action this season.
Many reports have quoted a 4-6 week timeframe, although the Jaguars have never publicly said that. PFTalk has beaten the major media on many stories like this over the last few years, so it carries a lot of weight.

Darrell Jackson (knee) will not return for Seattle's week 13 game in Philadelphia.
Coach Mike Holmgren sounded hopeful Jackson could return for week 14. Joe Jurevicius and Bobby Engram will start again.

TE Bubba Franks remained in the hospital last night after suffering a neck injury during yesterday's game.
Franks was carted off the field after being down for nine minutes following a hit by safety Brian Dawkins. "Obviously, he took a pretty good hit, and any time your player is laying out on the field like he was, there is concern," coach Mike Sherman said. "We’ll probably leave him overnight just from a precautionary standpoint, and then we’ll go from there. But, I think he’ll be OK."

QB Trent Dilfer reportedly left the locker room with his injured knee heavily wrapped in ice yesterday.
Dilfer told trainers he was fine during the game, but may undergo an MRI today. "I got banged up," Dilfer said. "We'll have to see."

According to FoxSports.com's Jay Glazer, the Lions have fired coach Steve Mariucci.
Glazer reports that defensive coordinator Dick Jauron is expected to take over as interim head coach. Mariucci finishes his days in Detroit with a 15-28 record and still has two years and $10 million remaining on the five-year contract he signed in 2003. Matt Millen is 20-55 as Lions GM, so Mooch actually improved the team considerably. Some reports think he'll be a candidate in Green Bay this off-season.

The Lions have announced Dick Jauron as their interim head coach.
No promises were made past this season. GM Matt Millen stressed the development of the team's young players as a big team goal, meaning Mike Williams, Kevin Jones, Charles Rogers, and possibly Joey Harrington will play more than ever.

Patriots released RB Michael Cloud.
This indicates that Corey Dillon and/or Kevin Faulk will be healthy enough to play this week. It's probably Dillon. The Patriots may have put in a waiver claim for former Denver CB Lenny Walls.

Jaguars signed RB Rich Alexis from the practice squad.
This is not a great sign for Fred Taylor owners. Alexis is obviously only an emergency back, but perhaps this indicates Taylor isn't returning this week.

As soon as the Colts can clinch home-field advantage, Head Coach Tony Dungy plans on resting his players.
"It's really kind of a no-brainer,'' said Dungy. "As soon as the games aren't meaningful in the standings, [resting starters to preserve them for the playoffs] is something we'll think about. They don't give out rings for being 16-0.'' This should effect Edgerrin James more than anyone, although it's hard to imagine resting anyone before week 16.

Senator Arlen Specter said that Terrell Owens punishment is "vindictive and inappropriate" and that he might refer the matter to the antitrust subcommittee of the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Apparently Senator Specter owns Terrell Owens in his fantasy league. We're pretty sure his diatribe is irrelevent.

Interim coach Joe Vitt declined Monday to name a starting quarterback for this week's game.
"I'm not here to discuss that right now," Vitt said. "We'll wait and see." Considering how well QB Ryan Fitzpatrick played subbing for QB Jamie Martin Sunday, it seems like the Rams would want to give him a second look regardless of Martin's health status.

Alex Smith will take over at QB for the 49ers this week.
Coach Mike Nolan said Smith wasn't quite ready to play in the last two weeks, but he's ready now, "He’s healthy now. That won’t be an excuse. Before it could have been one." Barring an injury, Smith will finish out the season as the team's starter.

WR Nate Burleson was active yesterday, but played sparingly.
Burleson did not start and went without a catch. He fantasy value going forward is marginal, at best.

Quick discussion - Richard Jefferson - Stay Classy New Jersey...

Guys,
Love the show. I have an idea for a new award. It should go to the guy who everyone expects to break out either that week or that year. You know the sleeper everyone is taking about that crashes and burns. This year, I think the award would go to T. Calico. He was supposed to be the breakout guy this year and of course he didn't do a thing. The award can be called the Daunte Stallworth Award since he is always expected to step up and NEVER does. What do you think?
1. Secondly, any thoughts to doing a fantasy NBA show? I am into it and would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks.
Aron Bergman

Our buddy Jeff checks in...

He has gotten on the Frapper Map which we appreciate...

AND, aside from believing you when you are cautious of Aaron Brooks, I
have had super success using your second "NO PLAY" guys. This week I'm
starting Drew Bledsoe against your recommendation and we'll see how
that works out for me.

Lastly - If Cinci doesn't give Indy their first loss this week, will
they go undefeated? I'm a Dolphins fan from way back (Griese - the good

Now time to take a look at the injury report courtesy of Rotoworld.com

ESPN.com has confirmed that Marc Bulger could miss the rest of the season with a shoulder injury.
Reportedly there is more swelling involved than there was after his injury that kept him out two games (three weeks) earlier this season. Bulger was repeatedly hammered all season and the team may be cautious about bringing him back during a lost season.
WR James Thrash (hamstring) will not play Sunday.
Washington is very thin at receiver, with WR David Patten also out
Coach Jeff Fisher said yesterday that QB Steve McNair's hip injury may cause him to miss practice, but isn't serious.
"He is a little sore, a little stiff, but I think he'll be fine," Fisher said. "I may elect to hold him out of (tomorrow's) practice, but I'm sure he'll be back on the field Thursday.
According to the San Francisco Chronicle, "Alex Smith's knee appears close to fully healed and he would like to get back on the field."Coach Mike Nolan is expected to announce a starter tomorrow or Thursday, as he apparently hasn't gotten the memo about coaches trying to keep things a secret until game-time.
RB Frank Gore (groin, hip) was on crutches yesterday.
Gore missed Sunday's game and, according to the San Francisco Chronicle, appears unlikely to play this week.
Coach Jack Del Rio said yesterday that RB Fred Taylor's thigh injury is minor and he could have come back into Sunday's game.
We'll believe it when we see Taylor listed as something other than questionable or doubtful on tomorrow's injury report.
X-Rays and MRI tests on Antonio Gates came back negative on Monday, so the All-World tight end is considered day-to-day.
After some reports said Gates might be sidelined for the remainder of the season, he met with local media and said he would test the injury on Wednesday. He's currently wearing a protective boot for precautionary reasons. The Chargers play the Redskins this Sunday
Jeremy Shockey could barely move his arms to get dressed after Sunday's game against the Eagles because of a nagging chest injury.
Shockey was limited to one catch for one yard, but it was a touchdown. He's expected to be able to suit for next Sunday's game against the Seahawks - we'll keep you posted throughout the week.
Brooks Bollinger will start Sunday's game against New Orleans despite suffering a concussion Sunday against Denver.
Coach Herman Edwards said Monday that Bollinger underwent several tests and is fine with the exception of a small headache. Kliff Kingsbury could back him up because Vinny Testaverde sprained his ankle
Coach Mike Holgrem said yesterday that WR Darrell Jackson (knee) will probably be out for one more week.
"His knee is right on schedule," Holmgren said. "Now he just has to get into a rehab program." If Jackson can return to practice this week, he still has a chance to play Sunday.
QB Ben Roethlisberger (knee) said "I'll do everything I can" to play against the Colts next Monday night.
"Every day it's getting a little better," Roethlisberger said. Big Ben dressed yesterday, but had almost zero chance of playing regardless of what happened

News from around the NFL thanks to rotoworld.com

Donavan McNabb will undergo surgery on his sports hernia, likely ending his 2005 season.
The Eagles are out of the playoff race and their passing game did well against the Giants without McNabb. Still prone to the poorly-timed pick, this season in no way diminishes our long-term outlook of McNabb as a top five fantasy QB. He did well considering. Many players have returned from this surgery to excel, like Cincinatti's Chris Perry. Philadelphia will look for receiver help this off-season, but their window of being a dominating passing attack in the NFC won't close. The system and McNabb are too good. McNabb is safe to drop in re-draft leagues

Tony Fisher could re-emerge as Green Bay's starting running back because of Sam Gado's fumbling problems.
The Green Bay Press-Gazette believes Gado will stay on the bench after dropping the ball again on Sunday. We're not so sure Mike Sherman won't give Gado another shot.
Arbitrator Richard Bloch told the Eagles that his decision on the Terrell Owens grievance case will come by noon Wednesday.
According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, the player's union wants Owens to either be allowed back on the team for the final five games of the season or be released
A hamstring injury kept WR Jimmy Smith on the sidelines for much of the fourth quarter Sunday.
"His hamstring was tight, and we elected not to put him in a vulnerable position and kept him out," coach Jack Del Rio said.
In speaking to reporters yesterday, coach Brian Billick praised RB Chester Taylor.
"I have no doubt that Chester Taylor can be an every-down back," Billick said. "That is not part of my thought process right now. I don't need to know any more about Chester Taylor to know that he is an outstanding back and can be a lead back for a team." Don't be surprised if Taylor gets more carries than RB Jamal Lewis for a second straight week
Coach Romeo Crennel won't commit to playing Charlie Frye this week in Minnesota.
The Browns played Frye the final drive of the second quarter while the Browns led 9-0 against the Dolphins. He also played the whole fourth quarter. "I'm saying, somewhere down the road, I'm going to give him a series or two in the game. When that's going to be, I don't know," Crennel said.
Coach Mike Shanahan indicated that Ron Dayne will be activated for Thursday's game against the Cowboys.
With Tatum Bell dealing with a shoulder injury sustained yesterday against the Jets, Dayne will likely be Mike Anderson's backup. "Of course he will (be active if Bell sits out)," Shanahan said. "Chances are, with Tatum having a sore chest, he'll be up anyhow
Coach John Fox said the reason why Stephen Davis only received four carries was because of "personal groups" against the Bears.
Fox was evasive as to whether or not he'll give Davis the brunt of the carries next week. He did add that Davis was healthy, but he just felt Foster was a better option because of matchup reasons
Joey Harrington is likely to start for the Lions on Thanksgiving, reports MLive.com.
On Monday, Steve Mariucci was asked to evaluate Joey Harrington's play against Dallas. He responded, "Adequate." Followed by silence. That reminds us of a famous scene from 'Hurlyburly', probably a useless reference. Jeff Garcia is unlikely to have enough practice time in this short week to get ready.
The Lions grievance against Charles Rogers is for $10.1 million of his signing bonus.
He received a $14.1 million signing bonus as a rookie, but the contract had language protecting the Lions from any substance abuse violation. Rogers said he didn't even know about the penalty and wondered aloud to wonder how he'll come up with it. It's quite an indictment on Rogers' famous agents, the Poston Brothers. Detroit could offer an incentive-laden deal to Rogers to earn some money back, like Cleveland did with Kellen Winslow.

Quick Recap from last week...

Bill
Must Play - Duce Staley
Dark Horse - Roy Williams
Don’t Play - Cedric Benson

Porterhouse
Must Play - Tom Brady
Dark Horse - Eric Moulds
Don’t Play - Drew Bledsoe

The Week 9 recap/Week 10 preview was phenomenal. If you guys weren't so
relaxed and carefree (that doesn't mean light in your loafers, just
carefree and fun), then I'd suspect you had planned to spit the bit for
seven weeks and then pull it all together going into the Fantasy
playoff run.

A few questions this week:

What's your take on Betts for Washington? **Bear in mind our league
gives points for returns (leaders are Dante Hall, Wes Welker, J. Mathis
and Ponder).

Who's the quarterback you'd play during the stretch run - Bledsoe,
McNair or Leftwitch?

Finally, what's the situation with tickets to watch the taping of the
show? Is there usually a line around the block to view the live studio
session?

Thanks,

The good Jeff (Cutler)
Help!
1. After peaking at 5th in a League of 14, I’m sliding backwards with two losses in a row. The Washington D really did me a disservice last week – fucking Yahoo! and its negative points! So, a little help here as I get to the tail end of my FF regular season.
I picked up the Baltimore Defense a couple of weeks back. With Reed and Lewis expected back shortly, which defense do you think will perform better over the next three weeks, Baltimore’s or Washington’s?
Here are Baltimore’s next 3 opponents:
- Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Houston
Washington’s next 3 opponents:
- Oakland, San Diego, St. Louis
Thanks in advance for the advice. And to Roy Williams, who’s interception and TD cost me a win this week, if you’re listening Roy, may T.O. be your teammate next year! Yeah, it’s an insult.
Regards,
Sanjay from the NYC

Donavan McNabb is unlikely to play against the Giants this weekend.
The air has been let out of the Eagles season. McNabb had an MRI on Tuesday and is now going to see a specialist, which doesn't sound good. Who knows when he'll be back. If the Eagles fall out of contention, the team may shut him down. Andy Reid won't say who will start in McNabb's place, but it's probably Mike McMahon.

QB Alex Smith said his injured knee is "pain free" and he hopes to practice tomorrow.
"It feels good now," Smith said. "I still have a lot to talk about with the coaches and doctors. There's been no swelling for a while now, which is good. I hope to practice Wednesday. I don't want this to have any lingering effects.'' Smith seems unlikely to start Sunday, but as any team facing the choice between Ken Dorsey or Cody Pickett would, the 49ers have not ruled it out.

According to the Houston Chronicle, RB Domanick Davis (knee) is expected to return to practice on a limited basis.
Davis was inactive Sunday after apparently suffering a setback late in the week, making it tough to evaluate his staus for this weekend.
WR Anquan Boldin (knee) plans to practice Wednesday and said he expects to play Sunday.
"I'm going to test it out this week and see how it responds and we'll go from there," Boldin said. "If it doesn't swell, which I don't think it will, I'll take the next step. Right now, it's just a matter of getting back on the field and I knew there was going to be a time when I'd get back out there. Your body tells you when you're ready to go, and I think I'm at that point right now."

Coach Mike Mularkey said the team will be "very cautious" about Kelly Holcomb's health this week.
"He took a pretty good shot," Mularkey said Monday. The Bills wouldn't name a starter for next week, and Mularkey said that Holcomb's health and the matchup particulars against the Chargers will decide the starter. We expect Losman to start.

Cedric Benson will miss 3-6 weeks with an MCL sprain.
Anyone who saw Benson's injury knows this is good news. Adrian Peterson will fill-in as Thomas Jones' backup until Benson is back. Fantasy owners in re-draft leagues should feel comfortable dropping Benson
RB Thomas Jones (ribs) said yesterday that he expects to start Sunday against Carolina.
Jones sat out yesterday's game with a rib injury and watched his replacement, RB Cedric Benson, go down with what looked like a season-ending knee injury. "It wouldn't have been smart for me to play today, reaggravate it and then have to sit later on," Jones said.

RB Corey Dillon left Sunday's game after just one play because of a calf injury.
''It's been a tough week," said Dillon, whose father recently passed away. ''I'm just now getting halfway over the ankle, then for something else to come up and set me back is tough. One injury just leads to another, now I might need to be airlifted everywhere I need to go. The extent of the injury I don't know. I can't tell at this time. I'll try my best get back."

WR Michael Clayton (knee) said yesterday that he could have played Sunday and expects to start this week.
"But being in my situation, I didn't practice all week, there were guys here that were more prepared to play than I was and they showed it," Clayton said. "They stepped up and played big, at a time when we needed it most."

According to the Pittsburgh Tribune Review, QB Ben Roethlisberger (knee) may play Sunday if he is able to return to practice during the week.
"We got a little urgency now, so we'll see," Roethlisberger said. If Big Ben can't return Sunday the Steelers will likely turn to QB Tommy Maddox again and hope for the best, although QB Charlie Batch refused to rule himself out with a broken finger.
Coach Mike Tice said yesterday that RB Mewelde Moore (wrist) will start against Green Bay Monday night.
Moore didn't get a single touch on offense Sunday, but did return a punt 71 yards for a score. "The reason that Mewelde didn't play was because of the wrist," Tice said. "That is the end of it. There was no other reason. Mewelde is the starter at tailback, and I thought we were better served not to play him."
Coach Jack Del Rio sounded unsure about RB Fred Taylor's (ankle) status for this week's game.
"We'll take a look at Fred on Wednesday to see where he is,'' Del Rio said. "He'll get treatment in the next couple of days. I know he's feeling better.''
Despite his lack of catches lately, coach Jack Del Rio said yesterday that WR Jimmy Smith is still Jacksonville's top receiver.
"Jimmy is our No.1 wideout,'' Del Rio said. "He's very talented. He continues to play well for us. Nothing has changed there. We just happen to have guys making plays around him. I think that's a positive. Jimmy is very prominent in our plans. I think he's one of the stars in the league. He's one of the stars on this team and we'll continue to utilize him.'' As always, actions speak a lot louder than words.

Regardless of RB Tony Fisher's health status, RB Samkon Gado will likely remain Green Bay's starting running back.
If healthy, Fisher would likely be used on passing downs, as the Packers have been more impressed with Gado's running than his receiving or blocking.

WR Braylon Edwards said yesterday that it's time for him to become a full-time player.
"I'm tired of being around when I know I can make a play and not being able to make that play," Edwards said. "I can make plays. That's why I was drafted. That's why I'm here. Sooner or later, they've got to give me a chance to do that."
Coach Brian Billick said yesterday that RB Chester Taylor will resume his duties as Baltimore's third-down back this week.
"He'll be back into a steady rotation and be a big part of the game plan this week," Billick said. At some point the Ravens almost have to see if Taylor can do better than RB Jamal Lewis' sub par performance running the ball.
An NFL spokesman said that the league's decision to punish Randy McMichael for an altercation with his wife is "pending in two to three weeks."
McMichael pled guilty to criminal trespass on Sept. 8 and was sentenced to three months' probation. Considering McMichael has been in trouble before, he could face a suspension. He also was in a walking boot on his left leg Monday, although that isn't expected to be serious.
Frank Gore may earn 15-18 carries a game the rest of the season.
According to ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli, the San Francisco coaches don't believe Gore can handle a full workload, but they want to see how productive he is splitting carries with Kevan Barlow

Any help would be appreciated. I'm leaning toward not doing it, since Moss is studly right now… but I don't really know what he'll do in the future, since the redskins O has been suspect lately.
Thoughts?
Samuel G. Dellenbaugh
I would do the trade. Harrison is still the best player in teh trade and Glenn and Moss are a wash. Bledsoe will throw more than Brunell it's that simple. When Julius Jones comes back Barber will at best split carries and Carnell will be the man. You'll be set for playoff time

Porterhouse,
1. Thanks for the advice. I lost last week; outside of Peyton, my team SUCKED! But I felt good about the players I had playing, so it’s all good. Besides, the best part about ending a 5-game winning streak with a loss is that I get to work on another winning streak, starting with this Sunday.
Y’all be good.
Jessie from New Hampshire...

Its Thursday AM and I'm listening to the football podcast. Yiming is VERY
nice - gives me 2 commuting days to listen.

The Football show is entertaining , well done - I like it. Please do invite
Porterhouse to F himself. What's worse than a Jets & Yankees fan? Am I the
only one that thinks Porterhouse is actually the angry NY doorman on
Survivor?

Microphone Jeff is a dick - probably runs a gay sex boat - not that there's
anything wrong with that...

Jesse in NH

Finally from Jeff Cutler who wants his own personal podcast...

OK. You guys sounded like silk this week. I like the banter and the use of quotes from the best movies of all time. I have to plead innocence as to "my" comments on the hearing your pod issue.
1. It seems that my first generation iPod wasn't 'casting properly in my car and that caused the drop outs and poor sound quality.
I still blame portly Darren for my loss last week. If you guys would do a Jeffcast on Monday AM, I would have known to start Ward instead of Randle El on Monday night.
I lost by two points.
Keep up the good work.

According to the Chicago Sun Times, RB Thomas Jones (ribs) pulled himself out of Sunday's game and will ultimately decide if he plays this week.
Coach Lovie Smith said earlier in the week that he was leaning toward resting Jones, so keep an eye on the situation as we get closer to Sunday.

Dolphins placed David Boston on injured reserve with a knee injury, ending his season.Only 27 and three years removed from a 1,500 season, Boston is perilously close to out of the league. He can't shake his knee problems and doesn't look like the same receiver anymore. Boston finished with 80 yards this year.
An MRI on Mewelde Moore's wrist only revealed a sprain.
"I always talk about body language," coach Mike Tice said. "Guys who get the ball ... if their body language isn't good, it scares me with them. We'll see how Mewelde's body language is. Hopefully … he'll go out and practice all week." Moore could lose carries to Michael Bennett, even if he's healthy enough to start.

QB Marc Bulger practiced yesterday for the first time since injuring his shoulder
The Rams' bye week gave Bulger some time to heal and he appears ready to return. "Marc looked good out there," center Andy McCollum said. "He looked real good out there. It's good to have him back in the huddle."
WR Isaac Bruce (toe) took part in team drills yesterday for the first time since September. Tori Holt is expect back this week...
"He was out there and he did some real positive things," interim coach Joe Vitt said. "It's going to be an ongoing process. We just have to wait and see how it goes.
QB Ben Roethlisberger (knee) will not start Sunday and is now targeting November 20 as a return date.
The Steelers will go with QB Charlie Batch Sunday against Cleveland and hope for the best. Considering how awful Batch was against Green Bay in Week 9, Pittsburgh's running game better be working.
According to the Houston Chronicle, the Texans are hoping to have RB Domanick Davis (knee) back this week.
Davis was inactive for Week 9 with a knee injury
RB Fred Taylor (ankle) was scheduled to undergo an MRI yesterday.
Coach Jack Del Rio said the team will update his status tomorrow. "I just don't know how he's going to respond," Del Rio said. "I'll have a better feel Wednesday when I see him."
Despite being in for only three plays Sunday, WR Roy Williams (quadriceps) said he was healthy enough to play more.
"I'm not a punk," Williams said. "I'm a football player. I was ready at all times. I'm not going to dress if I'm not ready to play. He's the head coach and he manages his players." The coach Williams is referring to, Steve Mariucci, said Williams told him he was "dragging" during the game.
RB J.J. Arrington suffered a shoulder sprain Sunday and may miss this week's game.
Arrington led Arizona in rushing against Seattle, but had only 40 yards. Marcel Shipp's value rises if Arrington is out.

Coach Jim Mora said he expects T.J. Duckett (ankle) to return in week 10 against the Packers.
In Mora's Monday press conference, he said, "T.J. Duckett, I think, will ready to go this week. He was really close last week, but we decided on Saturday afternoon that we were going to hold him for another week. We need him down the stretch. I want him to be as close to 100 percent as he can be before we put him on the field

KSHB NBC in Kansas City reports that Priest Holmes could announce his retirement as soon as Thursday.
The report confirms our exclusive news Tuesday that Holmes' season and career is likely over. Doctors have reportedly found a lump in Holmes' spine, which could make him vulnerable to paralyzation. As of late Tuesday, Chiefs coach Dick Vermeil claimed to still be in the dark about what will happen.
According to the New York Daily News, WR Wayne Chrebet is expected to announce his retirement within the next two weeks.
Chrebet suffered what is believed to be the ninth concussion of his playing career Sunday and was placed on injured reserve yesterday.
1.

Coach Mike Sherman said he is leaning toward starting RB Samkon Gado against the Falcons Sunday.
Gado looked decent against the Steelers in Week 9, starting out strong before fading in the second half. At this point Green Bay's best option might be to activate running backs coach Edgar Bennett for the second half.

According to the Dallas Morning News, when the Cowboys' injury report comes out today, RB Julius Jones (ankle) will not be on it.
Jones is expected to start Monday night against the Eagles, although RB Marion Barber has certainly earned a split in carries of some sort with his outstanding play in Jones' place. He practiced yesterday for the first time in nearly a month.
Jets signed WR Dante Ridgeway and Harry Williams to their active roster.
They will be the fourth and fifth receivers for the Jets

Kordell Stewart will be released by the Ravens today.
Slash got some playing time last weekend, but wasn't necessary to keep with Kyle Boller returning at full strength.
Saints signed RB Anthony Thomas.
The Saints have been interested in Thomas in the past. He's a similar player to Antowain Smith, but Smith is playing so well right now that it's hard to see Thomas getting much playing time initially.

Daunte Culpepper will miss the 2005 season with damage to his ACL, MCL and PCL.
FoxSports.com reports that severe swelling in each area made it impossible to initially determine the extent of the injuries. But Mike Tice said Monday Culpepper will undergo season-ending surgery soon. Culpepper may not return with as much mobility next season and is likely to have a new coach and system to learn. That's assuming he returns in time for week one. Culpepper could prove undervalued next fantasy season following this year's disaster.

QB Alex Smith (knee) is still likely a week away from playing, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
"It's a rare injury," he said. "We're just trying to let it heal." Tim Rattay never looked so good.
QB Ken Dorsey's ankle injury isn't as severe as initially feared.
An MRI revealed no major damage. "We are going to do a lot of rehab in the next few days and see where it is," Dorsey said. "I will do anything it takes to get back on the field." At this point it looks like Cody Pickett at QB Sunday. Bad times.
QB Vinny Testaverde (calf) reportedly took 70 percent of the snaps with the first-team offense during practice yesterday.
Coach Herm Edwards confirmed that Testaverde will start Sunday against San Diego. Play at your own risk.

Chris Cooley underwent an MRI on his injured knee yesterday.
The Redskins should have more on Cooley's injury today

Coach Jeff Fisher said TE Ben Troupe's ankle was "very sore" yesterday.
Troupe left Sunday's game in the second quarter and did not return. The Titans are running out of people to catch the ball.

Coach Mike Holmgren said yesterday that WR Darrell Jackson (knee) is feeling better.
Jackson had knee surgery nearly a month ago and Holmgren said the team is closer to setting a timetable for his return.

WR Bobby Engram (ribs) did not practice yesterday, but may play Sunday.
"I'll play," Engram said. Engram has missed three straight games after cracking his ribs October 2.
WR Az-Zahir Hakim is day-to-day after aggravating a rib injury by sneezing Sunday.
Seriously. Hakim was inactive for Sunday's game
According to the Houston Chronicle, WR Andre Johnson (calf) will not practice Wednesday.
It doesn't sound like the Texans are expecting him back for this week, but keep an eye out for updates.
QB Jeff Garcia may be unable to practice this week and suggested that QB Joey Harrington should start if he can't.
"I feel I need to be out there by Thursday," Garcia said. "I feel like getting two good solid days of practice in is important for me to feel comfortable with what I need to do. If I can't be out there on Thursday, taking part in practice, then I think it's best for the guy who's taking the reps to be the guy in there on Sunday."

WR Randy Moss struggled to play through a hamstring injury Sunday and eventually took himself out of the game in the third quarter.
"Randy's struggling with some things,'' coach Norv Turner said. "He got hit in the head pretty good. He's got some soreness. I'm pleased that we're getting as much out of him as we are." He's looking like a very iffy play this week.

Coach Lovie Smith said yesterday that RB Thomas' Jones rib injury is not serious.
Jones was knocked out of Sunday's game in the fourth quarter, but is a good bet to play this week.
WR Michael Jenkins (ankle) did not practice yesterday.
He reportedly played some catch, but did not run. "I may try [today] and see how it goes," Jenkins said.
RB T.J. Duckett (ankle) did not practice yesterday, but coach Jim Mora said he may be healthy enough to play Sunday.
Duckett was inactive for Atlanta's October 24 game against the Jets, but had extra time to heal up during the bye week.
Bears WR Mark Bradley will miss the rest of the 2005 season with a torn ACL.
The rookie second-rounder was making surprisingly impressive strides as a starter. Considered raw coming out of Oklahoma, Bradley looked like a future complement to Muhsin Muhammad.
According to the Arizona Republic, WR Anquan Boldin (knee) will play this week if doctors clear him to do so.
An MRI on Boldin's injured knee showed a bone bruise. "I don't want to do anything stupid," Boldin said. "If it is just a bruise or a sprain, I don't want to do anything to hurt it worse than what it was." If Boldin is out, coach Dennis Green said WR Bryant Johnson will start in his place

Coach Dennis Green confirmed that Bryant Johnson will start as long as Anquan Boldin is out.
The Cardinals still have three division games left where Johnson could be a decent option. He's at least worth grabbing in deep leagues.

Coach Jack Del Rio said yesterday that WR Ernest Wilford will get an expanded role in the offense after catching six passes for 145 yards Sunday.
Wilford may start against the Texans in place of WR Reggie Williams. "You know Yankee baseball lore. Wally Pipp? You don't know how it's going to happen," Del Rio said. "Ultimately, you have to take advantage of your opportunity. I think [Wilford] stepped forward and said very clearly, "I want more playing time, coach. Throw the ball to me.'"
According to the Detroit News, there is "no doubt" that WR Charles Rogers will play Sunday.
Coach Steve Mariucci made it clear yesterday that Rogers will have to compete for playing time going forward, but the Lions are so thin at receiver that they need the extra body.
Coach Bill Parcells downplayed RB Marion Barber's outstanding game Sunday.
"We have a tendency in Dallas to anoint," Parcells said. "I think the anointing oils are a little more prevalent here than some other parts of the country. I think I just want to keep him as a promising rookie right now."

WR Braylon Edwards endorsed a quarterback change in Cleveland, saying that rookie Charlie Frye would "bring a little more life, because he's younger" than Trent Dilfer.
Edwards apparently didn't think about the fact that Dilfer is still the team's QB, and thus in charge of getting him the football. Asked about a potential change, coach Romeo Crennel said, "I'm not divulging which way I'm leaning."
Brad Johnson will be Minnesota's starting quarterback for the rest of the season.
Minnesota's schedule doesn't look imposing the next month: vs. Lions, @ Giants, @ Packers, and vs. Browns. It gets much tougher down the stretch, but Johnson could put up workmanlike numbers in the meantime.
